Refresher Course For Licensed Gas Service Workers

EMA has set up a continuing learning scheme to enable licensed gas service workers to keep up, on a regular basis, with changes in the piped gas industry, gas legislation, good industry practices and advancement in technologies. All licensed gas service workers will be required to attend a prescribed refresher course once every 5 years.

The refresher course will cover changes and highlights in the Gas Act (Cap.116A), the Gas (Supply) Regulations, the Gas Supply Code, Singapore Standard CP 51 Code of Practice for Manufactured Gas Pipe Installation and any new regulations or codes that have come into effect. The course contents will be updated from time to time to keep up with changes.

All licensed gas service workers whose licences expire on or after 1 June 2009 may apply for the renewal of their licences ONLY if they have attended the prescribed refresher course in the preceding 5 years.
|

Example
If your licence expires on 1 June 2009:
-You have to attend a prescribed refresher course for renewal of licence before 1 June 2009;
-There is no necessity for you to attend a prescribed refresher course for renewal of licence in the next 5 years after you have attended the course in year 2009; and |
-You will only have to attend a prescribed refresher course again before you apply for renewal of licence in year 2014.

To launch the continuing learning scheme, we have appointed BCA Academy as the first course organiser. This prescribed course will be conducted at BCA Academy. You are advised to register for the course directly with the course organiser about 3 months prior to the expiry date of your licence.

Prescribed Refresher Course Available

|

You are expected to attend the full programme of the prescribed refresher course. The Certificate of Accomplishment will only be issued by the course organiser at the end of the course. Please make necessary arrangement for your work commitments so that you can attend the full day course without the need to leave early. You shall attach a scanned image of the Certificate of Accomplishment when submitting your renewal application for the worker licence through ELISE.

Note: Licensed gas service workers who have been first granted a gas service worker licence on or after the Gas Act came into operation on 14 Feb 2008 will not be required to submit a COA when making licence renewal application within the next 4 years from the first granted of the licence. |
